Bad Bald Eagles!!

Ever heard of Loons?  Well they are magnificent birds and Robinson Lake is fortunate to be home to a pair every summer. They nest on a little island in the middle of Robinson Lake. And usually we are lucky to see a baby loon by the end of the summer.

They are very protective over their nest and anytime the bald eagles fly over they give off an amazing warning call...About those bald eagles- I think their favorite treat is a baby loon ;( and so they are constantly trying to outsmart the loons to get to the nest. Typically we only see one bald eagle flying around but the other day it was sooo strange...there was a pair! Two of them flying around Robinson Lake.  The sight of it was so amazing that you forget why they are even coming around the lake...well unfortunately we later found out why there were two of them.

They double teamed the loons and got to the babies!  So we have another year without a baby loon! The residents around the lake are very saddened by this news because in general everyone is super protective over them.   I just hope that the loons try again next year!
