On Saturday we decided to go kayaking/canoeing on the Paint River. It is about a 3 hour trip from start to finish. We got there about 10am and didn't get home till about 7pm. Oh wait...thats more than 3 hours??!! Yeah...well there is a story...
So we get there and get unloaded and my FIL and I start to drive to the end ( I was in the chase car) and Jeep Jeep (the old red jeep we have up here) died!! So we go back to where Travis and his mom were waiting for us...
Long story short- the MIL and FIL went back to the cabin to call AAA and Travis and I waited and waited...we found 4 leaf clovers, took pictures of chipmunks, avoided bugs...etc.
Once they got back we decided to go ahead with the trip...but there was a catch...we had started early to finish early so FIL could go to town to get some much needed medicine. But since we decided to go ahead with our trip...we had to go to town real quick (about an hour to and from) to get the meds. So Travis and his mom hung out until we got back. By the time we ended up in the water it was after 2pm!!
But it was worth it! SO peaceful and beautiful...plus very solitary. Until we ran into these people....actually floating the river! OMG...The water has to be like 50 degrees or below...
They were nice enough though and we didn't mention the huge fish we saw earlier...I don't think I would want to tube with these swimming underneath me...
Muskie fish can get up to 5 feet and have very sharp teeth...and there have been reports of them biting people.
Anyway, overall the trip was very enjoyable and I can't wait to go do it again! The pic below is of Travis having to pull our canoe over the shallow rocks. We almost tipped over!!
